Job summary

Shambaugh & Son Fire Protection is seeking a Fire Protection Inspector Lead to oversee inspections, quality audits, and documentation for fire sprinkler and alarm systems. You will ensure NFPA compliance across design validation, submittals, installation, testing, and commissioning.

The role requires strong analytical skills, field leadership, and the ability to coordinate with contractors and owners. On-site work with travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in commercial/industrial fire protection and life safety.
• Knowledge of NFPA, IFC, ADA, UL, IBC, NEC codes and drawings/readings.
• NICET certification preferred; able to travel to client sites as needed.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Procore and project software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fire protection/alarms plans across project phases.
• Lead inspections and quality audits of fire protection systems.
• Review submittals, shop drawings, and as-built docs for approvals.
• Conduct daily field inspections and document compliance findings.
• Coordinate resolution of installation deficiencies with teams.
• Collaborate with commissioning, GC, and owner's reps for final testing.
• Attend QA/QC, commissioning and safety meetings; report status.
• Maintain reports, test sheets, punch lists, and device logs.
• Ensure traceability of system components by part numbers and serials.
• Mentor technicians on NFPA requirements and inspection techniques.
