Job summary

EMCOR Group, Inc. through its Shambaugh & Son Fire Protection unit is seeking a Fire Protection Inspector Lead to oversee quality control for fire sprinkler and alarm systems on industrial and commercial projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred; at least a high school diploma or GED.
• 7+ years of commercial/industrial fire protection or life safety experience.
• Knowledge of local and national fire alarm codes (NFPA, IFC, ADA, UL, IBC, NEC, etc.).
• Ability to read drawings and specifications and interpret submittals.
• Experience with MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Procore.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the fire protection and alarm plan across all project phases.
• Lead the execution of technical inspections and quality audits on fire protection and alarm systems.
• Coordinate the review and approval of submittals, shop drawings, redlines, and as-built documentation.
• Perform inspections in daily field inspections, reporting, and documentation of compliance.
• Interface with field superintendents, system programmers, and subcontractors to resolve installation deficiencies.
• Coordinate with Commissioning Authority, General Contractor, and Owner’s Rep for final acceptance testing.
• Attend QA/QC, commissioning, and safety meetings; provide status updates and escalate issues.
• Generate and maintain reports, test sheets, punch lists, device logs, closeout documentation, and final test results.
• Ensure traceability of all system components (model numbers, serials, batch codes).
• Mentor technicians and conduct ongoing training on NFPA requirements and inspection techniques.
• Track quality KPIs, nonconformance trends, and ensure corrective actions are logged.
