Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life safety across utility-scale storage, power, and industrial EPC projects.

This fully remote role requires deep expertise, strong coordination with AHJs, and oversight of design and commissioning from concept through turnover. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in fire protection engineering, a related bachelor’s degree, and a PE license is preferred.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience with at least 2 years of energy infrastructure experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• A PE license in Fire Protection Engineering is preferred.
• Proven experience working with AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials to secure approvals and navigate permitting.
• Working knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855 and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead and participate in national fire protection code committees; interface with AHJs and insurers.
• Oversee project-specific fire protection design, budgets, and schedules.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams to ensure design consistency.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
• Travel up to 25% as required.
• Lead engagement with Owners on fire protection strategy and design.
