Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life-safety systems across utility-scale storage and energy projects. This fully remote role requires coordinating with AHJs, insurers, and vendors, while guiding design from concept through commissioning.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in fire protection, a related degree, and strong knowledge of NFPA/IBC codes. Expect travel up to 25% and a senior technical interface role within SOLV Energy.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience, including energy infrastructure.
• P.E. license preferred.
• Experience working with AHJs to secure approvals and navigate permitting and inspection processes.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855 and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead and participate in national fire protection code committees for energy storage safety.
• Interface with AHJs, fire marshals, insurers, and engineers; travel as needed.
• Oversee fire protection design for BESS projects and manage EOR/vendor scopes.
• QA/QC third-party deliverables and ensure cross-discipline design consistency.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams to optimize design and constructability.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
