Job summary

SOLV Energy, a nationwide provider of infrastructure services for solar, storage, and substations, seeks a Principal Fire Protection Engineer. This fully remote role leads fire safety strategy across energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client specs from design through commissioning.

Responsibilities include establishing standards, guiding risk mitigation, and coordinating with AHJs, insurers, and engineers while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• P.E. license preferred.
• Proven experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855, and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code committees and coordinate with AHJs, insurers, and engineers.
• Oversee project-level fire protection for energy storage systems, including basis-of-design and EOR management.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams to ensure design consistency and efficiency.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
