Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to serve as the technical authority across utility-scale energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects. The role ensures compliance with codes, standards, and client specs while supporting safe, cost-effective delivery from design through commissioning.

The position is fully remote with travel up to 25% and requires over 10 years of fire protection experience, including energy infrastructure exposure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven ability to work with AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials to secure approvals.
• Knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855 and related codes.
• Experience managing external consultants and multi-project deliverables.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards and best practices.
• Lead fire protection code committees and interface with AHJs and insurers.
• Oversee project-level fire protection work, including basis-of-design and EOR coordination.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams for design consistency.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
• Engage Owners and provide technical training to SOLV team.
