Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead and manage high‑complexity fire protection projects across North America. You will supervise staff, develop scope and budgets, and ensure on‑time delivery with engineering excellence.

You bring at least 10 years of experience, a PE or NICET Level IV, and strong knowledge of NFPA codes, building codes, and CFD tools. The role combines technical leadership with client interaction and business development support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) or NICET Level IV certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, high-complexity fire protection projects and teams.
• Conduct building, fire, and life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
• Engage in design development through sketches, models, diagrams, and other formats.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal/external stakeholders.
• Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and cost estimation.
• Provide supervision and mentoring to staff to strengthen technical abilities.
• Ensure quality assurance and control on projects and peers’ work.
• Develop standards and specifications for the fire engineering group.
• Oversee project scope, budget, and design approach; support BD activities.
