Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our North America Fire Protection Engineering Team. You will work independently on large, complex projects and lead teams through all lifecycle phases, developing group capabilities with up-to-date tools and procedures for on-time client delivery.

You will supervise staff, conduct code reviews, prepare technical reports, and contribute to business development.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Building codes and NFPA standards; UFC familiarity preferred.
• Strong knowledge of fire suppression and fire alarm systems (design/commissioning).
• Ability to review work for accuracy and manage time to meet budgets/schedules.
• Collaborates with internal/external teams and clients.
• Strong technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with MS Office; experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
• CFD modeling experience (FDS/ASCOS) preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, high-complexity projects.
• Conduct building, fire, and life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
• Engage in design development through sketches, models, diagrams, etc.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal teams and external parties.
• Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and cost estimating.
• Supervise assigned staff; provide mentoring to strengthen technical skills.
• Perform QA/QC on projects and peers' work; uphold standards.
• Assist in developing new standards and specifications for fire engineering.
• Develop project scope, budget, and design approaches for varied projects.
• Support business development with proposals and presentations.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects.
