Job summary

Stantec, a global design firm, seeks a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to lead complex fire protection design projects across North America. You will mentor staff, supervise project teams, and ensure on-time delivery with high client satisfaction.

The role requires a PE, 10+ years of experience, and strong knowledge of NFPA codes, UFC guidelines, and fire suppression/alarms design. Proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD and CFD tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• Master’s in Fire Protection preferred, but not required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) who has passed the fire protection exam is required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for large projects of high complexity.
• Conduct building/fire/life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
• Engage in design development through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other formats.
• Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Participate in client meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
• Provide direct supervision to assigned staff; mentor to strengthen technical abilities.
• Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects and peers’ projects.
• Assist in the development of new standards and specifications for the fire engineering group.
• Develop project scope, budget, and design approach for projects of various sizes and complexities.
• Assist with Business Development activities, including proposal development, presentations, etc.
• Oversee and manage multiple concurrent projects.
