Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings practice is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer to join our North America Fire Protection Engineering Team in Washington. This role focuses on leading high- complexity projects, conducting code reviews, and delivering engineering solutions that meet client needs and schedules.

You will supervise staff, develop designs using Revit/AutoCAD, and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external consultants to drive successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Fire Protection Engineering or related field; master's preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in fire protection engineering.
• P.E. license or NICET Level IV certification required or pursued.

Responsibilities

• Handle large, complex projects with minimal supervision.
• Perform building, fire and life safety code reviews and analyses.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to clients.
• Lead design development from sketches through models and diagrams.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams, owners, and contractors.
• Mentor staff and ensure quality assurance and control across projects.
• Develop new standards and specifications for the fire engineering group.
• Assist in business development and proposal preparation.
• Oversee multiple projects and manage budgets/schedules.
