Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer in San Francisco to own portions of project design from concept through construction. You will perform calculations, code research, QAQC, and coordinate across disciplines while mentoring junior designers.

The role supports early design strategy discussions, client interaction development, and internal QAQC processes to ensure code compliance and drafting consistency. A hybrid work model is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• P.E. licensure is required.
• 5+ years in the AEC industry preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Revit experience required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for fire protection systems through schematic, design development, and construction document phases.
• Independently perform fire protection design tasks with minimal input.
• Prepare technical documentation for fire protection systems (descriptions, narratives, specs, equipment schedules).
• Develop and review fire protection layouts in Revit with coordination across disciplines.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to resolve design conflicts and progress design.
