Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to assume ownership of fire protection design tasks from concept through construction. You will perform calculations, code research, QAQC, and cross-discipline coordination, while mentoring junior staff.

The role emphasizes client engagement, technical leadership, and collaboration in a hybrid, office-and-field environment. A PE license and a mechanical engineering background are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; required.
• P.E. licensure; required.
• 5+ years in the AEC industry preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and detail orientation required.

Responsibilities

• Lead design development and calculations for fire protection systems through project phases.
• Perform fire protection design tasks including calculations and code checks.
• Prepare technical docs: system descriptions, narratives, equipment schedules, and redline markups.
• Develop layouts in Revit and coordinate with architectural and structural backgrounds.
• Coordinate fire protection design with internal/external teams to resolve conflicts.
• Review RFIs and submittals and participate in field verification and observations.
