Job summary

Our client in San Francisco is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the team remotely. You will build and evolve the double-entry ledger that serves as the platform's financial system of record, while shaping the next generation of the platform, including a major ledger rebuild and payment infrastructure expansion.

You will own the ledger, design money-movement infrastructure across ACH, instant payments, wires, cards, and settlements, and develop scalable payout and reconciliation systems

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering with backend focus in fintech.
• Experience designing and owning a double-entry ledger in production.
• Strong knowledge of webhooks, idempotency, state machines and reconciliation.
• Proven ability to build reliable money-movement and settlement systems.
• Experience with high-value financial transactions and transactional DBs.
• Familiarity with React and TypeScript is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the double-entry ledger including audit trails.
• Design money-movement infra across ACH, instant payments, wires and cards.
• Build scalable payout and settlement systems for high-volume transactions.
• Develop automated reconciliation across ledgers and partners.
• Support lending-related infrastructure including disbursements and repayments.
• Create multi-provider payment architecture with robust failure handling.
• Implement controls for fraud, disputes, holds and settlement management.
• Translate complex financial activity into clear customer experience.
