Job summary

AngelList is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own Foundations systems for the Nova banking and payments network. You will drive money movement, KYC, and risk controls, balancing correctness with rapid shipping in a startup-style environment.

You’ll model financial domains, own APIs, and collaborate with Product and Compliance. The role emphasizes reliability, auditability, and leadership within a lean, high-stakes infra team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend or full-stack systems with core services.
• Experience with financial systems, payments, or banking integrations.
• Strong data-modeling skills and relational database design.
• Familiarity with Rails or rapid ramp-up in a Rails environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core Foundations systems end to end.
• Own design rollout, on-call operation, and post-launch stability.
• Model complex financial/identity domains in relational data.
• Define service contracts and APIs used by Product teams.
• Ensure correctness, auditability, security, and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and participate in design reviews with teams.
