Job summary

The RealReal, Inc. operates the world’s largest online marketplace for authenticated, resale luxury goods, with a strong focus on fine jewelry and watches. We seek an experienced Sr. Jewelry Authentication Specialist to identify stones, authenticate items, and train teammates in a fast-paced New Jersey facility.

You will leverage GIA techniques, assess market values, and participate in pricing decisions, while upholding rigorous standards for brand integrity and customer trust.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of fine jewelry & watch experience with some GIA classwork in lieu of GIA Certification.
• Experience with Diamonds required (selling, grading, pricing).
• Experience with colored stones required (identification, pricing).
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

Responsibilities

• Execute authentication process, identifying color stones and diamonds using GIA techniques.
• Research fair market value and demand for branded and unbranded jewelry.
• Set prices for branded and unbranded jewelry with team direction and approval.
• Assist in training all new Sr. Specialists hired.
• QC items from Specialists when challenged on harder pieces.
• Help manage product sort on all received items.
• Adhere to first in, first out methodology for consignments.
• Manage process flow of items awaiting price approvals.
• Evaluate, authenticate, and price high-risk jewelry (engagement rings etc).
• Gem identification experts to answer questions for the team.
• Provide training and presentations on difficult gemstones.
• Assist in authentication by locating brand identifiers and evaluating quality
