Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Cancer Clinical Trials Research Senior Financial Analyst to support pre-award and post-award management of cancer clinical trials. The role develops compliant budgets and executes post-award tasks to ensure timely revenue receipt.

Responsibilities include budgeting, billing compliance, sponsor negotiation, and monthly reconciliations within the Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; verification of degree must be provided.
• 4+ years of finance experience in a related field; strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of financial management and accounting principles.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies governing clinical research finance.
• Monitor financial system for compliance and system integrity.
• Ensures research billing compliance.
• Review and interpret clinical research protocols and develop budgets to capture trial activity.
• Negotiate and manage complex study budgets including personnel, services, supplies, indirect costs, and startup costs.
• Review clinical trial agreements for deliverables and timelines.
• Negotiate with industry sponsors on budget and payment terms.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of study accounts; monitor income and expenses.
