Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle seeks a Clinical Trials Financial Analyst II to provide fiscal management for CRS programs, assist pre- and post-award budgeting, and collaborate with faculty, study teams, and sponsors. The position reports to the CRS Fiscal & Operations Manager and offers opportunities to optimize financial processes across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent combination.
• Minimum of two years of experience in finance, preferably in Phase I-III clinical trials.
• Experience developing complex, multi-phase clinical trial budgets and negotiating study budgets.
• Working knowledge of financial information and related operational statistics.
• Ability to develop and perform complex calculations in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work independently on multiple projects.
• Exposure to grant accounting or project cost accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Communicate start-up milestones and budget timelines with study teams.
• Identify costs and develop budgets for industry-sponsored, investigator-initiated and grant-funded trials.
• Facilitate pre-implementation meetings with PIs and study teams for pre-submission requirements.
• Prepare, submit and manage internal financial processes and coordinate with clinic staff.
• Collaborate with cancer consortium offices and clinic partners to meet pre-activation requirements.
• Manage study startup and financial documents across platforms (OnCore CTMS, REDcap, email).
• Create multi-year budgets; monitor performance vs. budget and explain variances.
• Track monthly labor and non-labor costs for sponsored projects.
• Provide budget-to-actual reporting, expense approvals and invoice processing.
• Support financial analysis, forecasting and ad hoc models.
• Review billing documents and ensure alignment with protocol terms.
• Work with central offices and sponsors to support the overall research plan.
• Suggest process improvements to standardize, automate, and improve efficiency.
