Job summary

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle is seeking a Clinical Trials Financial Analyst II to manage postaward budgets and sponsor invoicing for an assigned portfolio of clinical trials. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of two years of experience in finance, preferably in Phase I-III clinical trials.
• Experience developing complex, multi-phase clinical trial budgets, negotiating study budgets, revisions and knowledge of medical terminology.
• Working knowledge of financial information and related operational statistics.
• Ability to develop and perform complex calculations in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, ability to understand complex problems and communicate clearly.
• Ability to work independently on multiple projects and report status proactively to decision makers.
• Exposure to grant accounting or project cost accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with clinical trial startup teams to ensure sponsor payment terms, study budget and billing grid align with CRS standards.
• Generate sponsor invoices timely and help ensure accurate tracking and reporting for each study.
• Review Epic charts and invoices, use OnCore CRA Console, Subject Console, Financial Console, Vendor Payables, and Epic Research Module to ensure MCA/CTA/ICF alignment.
• Work with Clinical Research Coordinators affecting invoicing and bill reconciliation to fix workflow issues.
• Coordinate with billing offices on billing issues when identified.
• Produce reports of overall study receipts, invoices and postaward information; develop QC checks to identify issues early.
• Prepare, submit and manage internal financial processes and coordinate with clinic implementation staff.
• Collaborate with cancer consortium offices and clinic partners to meet post award requirements.
• Create multi-year and annual budgets; monitor performance and explain variances and trends.
• Monitor and track monthly labor and non-labor spending for sponsored projects.
• Provide budget-to-actual financial reporting, expense approvals, and invoice processing; ensure charges are appropriate and paid promptly.
• Prepare ongoing financial analysis, forecasting and ad hoc financial models.
• Review internal billing compliance documents and OnCore study calendars for alignment with protocol requirements and sponsor funding terms.
• Work with central offices, clinic partners, faculty members and researchers to support the overall research plan.
• Assist with departmental fiscal objectives and propose process improvements to standardize and automate tasks.
