Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of government donor and/or institutional rules for awarding financial aid.
• Knowledge of scholarships, work study, loans, grants or compliance.
• Experience in a university financial aid office.
• Ability to coordinate others' work.
• Experience in analyzing and processing financial data.
• Customer service experience with diverse population.
• Experience in data entry.
• Ability to perform simple calculations.
• Experience with Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with the Internet.
• Evidence of effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitors or coordinates activities of subordinates.
• Coordinates programs including planning, processing, awarding and reporting (loans, work study, scholarships, grants).
• Counsels students about aid eligibility, procedures, and budgeting.
• Collects and analyzes financial data to determine aid eligibility and awards.
• Responds to questions from students, parents, guardians, or staff regarding aid options.
• Reviews awards for compliance with government rules and prevent over-/under-awards.
• Evaluates documentation for appeals and determines validity.
• Produces reports on aid program activity and suggests policy changes.
• Prepares and presents information on federal aid and grants to campus groups.
• Develops training materials for staff and external partners.
• Interacts with lenders, donors, and agencies to resolve issues for students.
• Provides administrative support for studies in fund utilization and trends.
