Job summary

Arizona State University is seeking a collaborative and service-oriented Financial Specialist Senior to join the Research Advancement team at the Tempe campus. This role provides financial management and post-award support for sponsored research projects, partnering with faculty and university stakeholders to ensure responsible stewardship of funding.

The position reports to the Financial Manager and offers opportunities to grow into specialized areas of research administration or supervisory

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience, or equivalent combination of experience/training.
Experience in research administration and financial management is desirable.

Responsibilities

Oversee post-award financial activities for designated sponsored projects, including setup, budgeting, expenditures, reconciliations, and closeout.
Prepare and review project budgets, justifications, and multi-year financial planning.
Monitor allowability and allocability of costs; diagnose discrepancies and implement solutions.
Review and approve financial transactions such as cost transfers, payroll allocations, and subaward invoices.
Provide financial forecasting and portfolio analysis to support faculty and management decisions.
Collaborate with pre-award, compliance, and central finance units to ensure accuracy across the award lifecycle.
