Job summary

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Field Technician III to install, test, and maintain transport, data, and CPE equipment across multiple sites. You will work with outside plant and fiber assets, performing troubleshooting, testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure network reliability.

The role requires deep knowledge of telecom practices, SS7 signaling, TCP/IP networking, and hands-on experience with transport gear. Flexibility for on-call duties and outdoor work is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years technician experience in telecom/data center environments.
• Master knowledge of transmission (DS0/DS1/DS3), switching and TCP/IP.
• Strong technical and mechanical background with transport gear and critical infrastructure.
• Ability to work non-scheduled hours as required; safety and vehicle policies followed.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective parts, and isolates issues to restore service.
• Install/change/decommission and test transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers across bandwidths.
• Use test equipment to locate and protect underground facilities and coordinate with teams.
• Maintain on-site assets, inventory, and tools; assist with outside plant tasks as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical and power systems.
