Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Field Technician III in Palm Bay, FL to support installation, testing, and maintenance of transport, data, and access networks. The role requires working with CSU/DSU, SS7 signaling, and fiber assets, often outdoors, with on-call duties and strong safety discipline.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in telecom field service, deep knowledge of transmission technologies, experience with power systems, and the ability to work independently or lead teams when needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years Technician experience in a telecommunications/data center environment.
• Master knowledge of standard telecommunication practices and technologies incl. Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP.
• Strong technical and mechanical background with experience of latest generation transport gear and critical infrastructure.
• Field work in varied environments, including outdoor conditions and hazardous settings.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective units, and assists with fiber quality testing and results analysis.
• Installs/changes/decommissions and tests transport, Ethernet, SONET and IP network layers across bandwidths.
• Locates, marks, and protects underground facilities using industry tools and techniques.
• Provides power installs (AC/DC) and related tasks as required.
• Manages assets, tools, and materials on-site and coordinates with vendors.
• Performs preventive maintenance on network infrastructure and critical equipment.
• Maintains positive customer and team relations while handling complex assignments.
• Supports field technicians and completes tasks with minimal supervision.
