Job summary

Lumen Technologies is seeking a Field Technician II in New York to perform installation, testing, and decommissioning of network equipment across fiber and transport networks. Duties include fault isolation, provisioning, and customer CPE deployment with on-site support.

The role requires 2+ years in telecom field work, familiarity with SONET/DS1/DS3, and PC skills. On-call and driving duties apply, with a strong emphasis on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in installation, test and turn-up of telecom equipment.
• Experience with DS1/DS3/SONET/routers and switches preferred.
• Proficient with Windows and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot network equipment and replace defective components to restore service.
• Install, test, and commission Next Generation technologies (Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber, Ethernet, IP).
• Perform preventive maintenance on network infrastructure including HVAC and electrical systems.
