Job summary

Lumen Technologies in Oregon is seeking a Field Technician III to install, maintain, and troubleshoot transport and data services across metro and long-haul networks. You will work with minimal supervision, often leading teams, and apply advanced knowledge of fiber, CSU/DSU, SS7, and TCP/IP to keep services running.

This role requires outdoor work, on-call rotations, and a strong safety mindset, with a valid driver's license and ability to operate in varying weather and terrain.

Qualifications

• 5+ years technician experience in a telecommunications/data center environment.
• Master knowledge of standard telecommunication practices and technologies including Transmission, Switching and TCP/IP.
• Possess a valid state vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots network equipment, replaces defective components and restores service.
• Installs and tests transport, Ethernet, SONET and IP network layers; installs and tests customer Premise Equipment (CPE).
• Locates and protects underground outside plant facilities and coordinates fiber quality testing when needed.
• Oversees asset management and supplies, including shipping/receiving and on-site materials.
• Performs preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure, HVAC and electrical systems.
