Job summary

Empower Rental Group in Birmingham, AL is hiring a Field Service Technician for our heavy equipment fleet. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, traveling to customer sites, diagnosing issues, and performing repairs to maximize equipment uptime.

You will work with a fully equipped service truck, manage work orders, and communicate clearly with customers to ensure successful service outcomes. A valid license and strong diagnostic ability are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction and/or aerial lift equipment.
• Valid driver's license; ability to drive company vehicles if required.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficient with modern diagnostics tools and mobile work orders/documentation.
• Own comprehensive set of mechanical tools required.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer job sites to perform urgent service calls, complex diagnostics, and emergency repairs on a diverse fleet of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose complex issues with powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Complete repairs to the fleet and to company vehicles.
• Maintain and stock the service truck to be prepared for any challenge.
• Execute scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections at customer locations.
• Utilize company laptop/tablet to manage work orders, look up parts, and document repairs.
• Communicate with customers on-site, provide updates, and train them on equipment use.
• Assist in-field with loading/unloading fleet orders and customer questions.
• Support the shop with more complex repairs and mentor other technicians.
