Job summary

Empower Rental Group is seeking a Field Service Technician focused on heavy equipment in Tuscaloosa, AL. You will operate with autonomy, managing your schedule from a fully equipped service truck to maximize uptime and deliver exceptional service.

You will diagnose and repair diverse heavy equipment, communicate clearly with customers on-site, and mentor others while supporting in-house teams on complex repairs. This role requires strong field readiness and customer-focused service.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction and/or aerial lift equipment.
• Valid Driver’s License – may be required on a case-by-case basis depending on branch needs.
• Excellent customer service skills for internal and external customers.
• Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and manage time in a dynamic field environment.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Proficient with modern diagnostics tools and comfortable using mobile tech for work orders and documentation.
• Must have your own comprehensive mechanical tools.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer job sites to perform urgent service calls, diagnostics, and repairs on our diverse fleet of heavy equipment.
• Diagnose complex issues with powertrain, hydraulic, and electrical systems using diagnostic tools and traditional methods.
• Complete complex repairs to the fleet and company vehicles.
• Maintain and stock your service truck to be prepared for any challenge.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections at customer locations to prevent issues.
• Use a company laptop/tablet to manage work orders, lookup parts, and document repairs promptly.
• Communicate with customers on-site, provide updates, explain repairs, and train proper equipment use.
