Job summary

Forgent Power seeks an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer to lead commissioning, diagnostics, and modernization across MV/HV equipment at customer sites. You will act as the technical authority for protection, control, and transformer diagnostics, directing teams and coordinating with customers on complex outages and upgrades.

Role requires travel 50–80%, strong safety leadership, and proven ability to deliver high-quality field reports and test documentation.

Qualifications

11+ years field experience with MV/HV switchgear, protection and control systems or equivalent education with field competency.
Proven ability to lead field crews and manage on-site execution for complex commissioning.
Strong knowledge of NFPA 70E/OSHA safety practices and arc-flash risk controls.
Experience reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and one-line diagrams.
Ability to travel as required, including short-notice deployments.
Experience with transformer diagnostics and system integration is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead commissioning and startup of electrical systems with acceptance testing.
Serve as technical escalation point for control, protection, and integration issues.
Plan diagnostics for equipment and protection/control faults, including complex interactions.
Execute protection relay commissioning and verify against drawings.
Direct testing and field verification for substations, including LTC and relay logic checks.
Lead modernization, retrofit, and integration projects with field teams.
Enforce safety standards and lead on-site safety briefings.
Develop field procedures and test plans for the region.
