Job summary

Lam Research in Tualatin, OR seeks a senior Field Service Engineer (FSE4/5) to act as Engineer in Charge for complex tool installations, upgrades, and recoveries. You will lead cross-functional teams, develop executable game plans, and drive technical continuity with customers and management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field; 7+ years of semiconductor equipment service/installation experience for FSE4, or 10+ years with leadership for FSE5.
• Demonstrated ability to create structured problem-solving models, test plans, and defensible troubleshooting.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and communicate effectively with technicians, engineers, managers, customers, and executives.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer in Charge (EIC) or senior technical owner for product lines, installations, escalations, or recovery projects.
• Establish a single executable technical plan with defined criteria, owners, timing, and risk controls.
• Lead complex troubleshooting from containment to permanent resolution and preventive actions.
• Create and maintain MBPS artifacts: problem statements, system models, hypotheses, test matrices, and conclusions.
• Develop executable game plans detailing work sequence, resources, and success criteria.
• Lead safety reviews, risk assessments, and stop-work decisions for high-risk tasks.
• Drive technical recovery for down tools, availability gaps, and product-performance issues.
• Prepare concise technical reports, escalation packages, and executive summaries.
