Job summary

Lam Research is seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Engineer (FSE4/5) to lead complex, high-impact maintenance and upgrade projects across semiconductor equipment. You will own technical recovery plans, drive structured problem solving, and serve as a technical leader for customer engagements.

In this senior role, you’ll develop executable game plans, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safety and compliance in cleanroom environments while traveling to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field with 7+ years of semiconductor equipment service, installation, escalation, or product-support experience.
• For FSE5: Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field with 10+ years of relevant semiconductor equipment experience, plus leadership evidenced.
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally and work in cleanroom environments with PPE.
• Demonstrated ability to create structured problem-solving models, test plans, and defensible troubleshooting using various data sources.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer in Charge (EIC) or senior technical owner for assigned product lines with clear accountability for technical outcomes and commitments.
• Establish a single executable technical plan with clear problem definition, success criteria, decision points, owners, timing, resources, risk controls, and escalation thresholds.
• Lead complex troubleshooting from containment through hypothesis development, model creation, testing, and permanent resolution.
• Create and maintain MBPS artifacts: problem statements, system models, fault hypotheses, test matrices, and decision records.
• Develop executable game plans defining work sequence, resources, parts, procedures, data capture, hold points, and recovery options.
• Lead Pre-Task Plans (PTP), risk assessments, procedure reviews, safe-state verification and stop-work decisions for high-risk work.
• Lead technical execution for installations, evaluations, upgrades, conversions, qualifications, productivity programs, and sustaining recovery efforts.
• Train and mentor new hires and developing FSEs through OJT and certification support.
