Job summary

astound in Wilsonville, Oregon seeks a Fiber Splicing Technician III to prep and fuse fiber optic cables for inside and outside plant construction, perform audits on fiber panels and splice cases, and place mid-sheath splices with testing and troubleshooting tools.

You will work with Construction Project Managers and Fiber Design to schedule splicing, provide detailed field reports, and ensure compliance with OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC guidelines while maintaining equipment and supporting training

Qualifications

• 5+ years of splicing experience with mid-sheath splice.
• Proficient with fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope.
• Ability to climb poles using gaffs and climbing belt.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Adherence to local/federal regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform prep and fusion of single-mode or multi-mode fiber optic cables for both inside and outside plant construction.
• Perform fiber panel audits and splice case audits.
• Place mid-sheath splices and test with OTDR and power meters.
• Coordinate splicing with Construction Project Managers and Fiber Design.
• Provide detailed field reports to the Fiber Design team.
• Follow safety and regulatory guidelines.
