Job summary

Astound is seeking a Fiber Splicing Technician III to prep, fuse, and inspect fiber for inside and outside plant construction. You will audit fiber panels and splice cases, place mid-sheath splices, and test with OTDR and power meters.

Collaboration with Construction Project Managers and Fiber Design is essential. Qualified candidates have 5+ years in splicing, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of splicing experience with mid-sheath splice capability.
• Proficient with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope.
• Ability to climb poles using gaffs and climbing belt.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Adherence to Local and Federal regulations and company policies.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Solid safety practices knowledge and ability to work flexible hours including nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Prep and fuse single-mode and multi-mode fiber for inside and outside plant construction.
• Perform fiber panel audits and splice case audits.
• Place mid-sheath splices.
• Test and troubleshoot fiber with OTDR and power meter.
• Install and test fiber cross connects.
• Provide detailed field splicing activity reports to Fiber Design.
• Schedule splicing with Construction Managers and/or Fiber Design.
• Follow OSHA, FCC, NEC and company procedures; maintain safety and quality.
