Job summary

Forged Fiber is hiring a Fiber Tech II to install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction, operations, maintenance, and restoration across our networks.

You will work on-site at 11418 NE Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA, performing splices across multiple cable types and coordinating with crews to meet project schedules while following OSHA and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• 2+ years telecom fiber splicing or outside-plant experience.
• Proficiency with fusion splicer, OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifiers, and inspection scope.
• Ability to read construction prints and splice diagrams with attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to coordinate with teams and agencies.
• Basic computer skills and capability to use field documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable for construction projects and restoration.
• Troubleshoot faults using OTDR, power meter, and related tools; document results.
• Prepare and repair splice cases/enclosures across aerial, buried, and manhole environments.
• Perform tests and maintain route integrity; update field reports.
• Coordinate with construction crews and engineers to meet schedules.
• Read and interpret prints, maps, diagrams, and permits for accurate work.
• Operate company devices for work orders and documentation; follow safety standards.
