Job summary

Ziply Fiber in Minneapolis is seeking a Senior Outside Plant (OSP) Engineer to lead fiber OSP design, validation, budget adherence and schedule management across projects. This role includes SME-level oversight of cable sizing, counts, records and permitting for ROWs and easements, coordinating with internal departments and vendors to ensure timely delivery of scalable network solutions.

The position requires five years of telecommunications outside plant project management or fiber design

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience, or at least five years in OSP/ fiber design.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in telecommunications outside plant project management and/or fiber design.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in ROW, private easement and permitting with local, state, and federal entities.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and satisfactory driving record.
• Must complete a pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Proactively review outside plant facilities to determine upgrades.
• Prepare cost estimates based on project type and needs.
• Review vendor designs and perform QA/QC audits.
• Maintain accurate cable records and update As-Builts.
• Coordinate with state, county, city, and national entities for planned projects.
• Manage full permitting lifecycle (State, DNR, City, County, Townships).
• Support leadership with reporting and escalations.
• Provide guidance and training to internal staff and external vendors.
• Be available during Pacific Standard Time; on-call evenings and weekends.
