Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Coordinator to support project teams in implementing environmental, safety, and health standards at the site level. This role requires a strong foundation in construction safety and a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

You will supervise safety conditions, enforce OSHA standards, and assist with incident investigations, training, and injury management to ensure safe, cost-efficient project execution across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• BA/BS preferred with a minimum of 3 years of experience in construction or industrial health and safety programs.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge and continuing education in construction safety.
• OSHA 510 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry.
• Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, with evidence of completion within the last two years.
• Completed OSHA 30-hour training for construction AND STS certification.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills, with strong organization and grammar.
• Ability to perform essential job duties accurately and safely, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Proficient in understanding and conveying English commands, questions, and safety-related instructions.
• Devoted to continuous learning and demonstrates a strong commitment to developing and maintaining core ESH competencies.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that “Constructing with Integrity” is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Monitors safety conditions and enforces OSHA and Layton Construction standards and policies.
• Assists the ESH Manager in investigating accidents and collecting initial data.
• Monitors workers’ compensation issues on Layton projects and reports information.
• Conducts or assists site safety orientations.
• Participates in pre-construction meetings highlighting safety needs.
• Assists with injury management and cost-effective medical care.
• Conducts industrial hygiene surveys and respirator fit tests.
• Supports VP-Field Ops and HR to ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Workers’ Comp law.
• Provides safety-related training to employees and subcontractor personnel on site.
• Participates in monthly corporate Safety Committee meetings.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
