Job summary

Amentum in Columbia, MD seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain enterprise infrastructure across classified environments. You will work with Cisco UCS, Active Directory, storage and virtualization platforms, delivering reliable systems and secure operations.

The role requires TS/SCI clearance, 8+ years of experience, and hands-on expertise with VMware, Windows Server, networking, and cybersecurity practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Experience with Cisco UCS administration and lifecycle management.
• Experience administering virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V, Nutanix.
• Strong networking concepts including routing, switching, segmentation, and security best practices.
• Experience managing enterprise storage, backup, DR, and data protection strategies.
• Hands-on with AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, and authentication technologies.
• Windows Server patching, hardening, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, patching, and disaster recovery exercises.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise infrastructure systems.
• Support network solutions including routing, switching, segmentation, and secure communications.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure standards, engineering best practices, and system documentation.
• Participate in modernization, migrations, and lifecycle management projects.
• Administer storage platforms and support backup, DR, replication, and capacity planning.
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, firmware updates, and approved changes.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and improve availability.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity to support remediation and STIG compliance.
• Evaluate technologies and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Maintain technical documentation and runbooks.
• Provide mentoring to junior and mid-level engineers.
