Job summary

Fivetran, Inc. is seeking a Sales Engineer to join its Enterprise sales team in San Francisco.

You will work with Sales to understand complex data requirements and demonstrate how the Fivetran + dbt platform enables reliable, end-to-end data pipelines. You’ll own technical evaluations across the data lifecycle, from replication to modeling, and guide customers through proofs-of-value and private-cloud deployments where applicable.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data replication, sales engineering, solutions architecture, or consulting in data operations, analytics, or BI.
• Strong technical background covering database replication, cloud infrastructure, and modern data warehousing architectures.
• Hands-on experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, and data modeling.
• Experience with modern data analytics technologies, including cloud data warehouses/lakes, transformation tooling (dbt or similar), data catalogs, and BI tools.
• Ability to gather and translate technical and business requirements into concrete solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; comfortable operating in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Work with Enterprise customers to understand their business, use cases, and requirements across data replication, transformation, and modeling
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to Enterprise audiences on the full Fivetran + dbt value proposition
• Ensure the technical win by running a tight proof-of-value process spanning ingestion through transformation
• Guide customers through dbt Cloud proof-of-concept implementations, including private-cloud deployments for enterprise clients where applicable
• Work closely with Product and Engineering to align solutions with Enterprise customer needs and inform the dbt Cloud enterprise roadmap
• Develop and maintain relationships with key Enterprise customers and partners (including Snowflake, AWS, Databricks)
• Own the technical relationship across the full customer lifecycle — pre-sale evaluation through adoption and expansion
• Stay current on trends in data movement, transformation, and analytics engineering; be an active participant in the dbt community
