Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an experienced leader for the Core Automation team to architect and deliver AI-powered compliance and multi-tenant systems. You’ll steer GenAI initiatives, design scalable cloud-based services, and guide cross-functional engineers toward high-quality code and robust architectures.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 5 years of engineering management experience, and 2 years of experience managing Managers.
• You know what high quality code and software engineering processes look like and how to foster them.
• Execution focused with an ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Ability to do both long term thinking and short term planning.
• Experience creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.
• Hands-on when needed – writing/reviewing code, on-call rotations, incident leadership, or bug triage.

Responsibilities

• Explore GenAI techniques (LLMs, Agentic AI) to solve cross-organizational challenges.
• Partner with Operations and Compliance to maximize impact.
• Build and manage engineering teams in the Compliance domain and guide feature and infrastructure development.
• Plan, design, develop, and test software systems for enhancements and new products.
• Design scalable systems using cloud technology and best practices.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, product management, and leadership to turn vision into a quarterly roadmap.
• Coach teams on design principles, coding standards, and AI tool adoption.
• Lead architectural reviews to ensure security, scalability, and quality.
