Job summary

The Department of Transportation in Illinois is seeking a Maintenance Equipment Technician/Engineering Technician IV to lead maintenance and repair of trucks and off-road equipment across regions. You will train staff, diagnose problems with advanced tools, and ensure safe operation of plant machinery.

Requires two years of college in civil engineering technology or related field with five years of experience, or seven years of engineering experience; a CDL is required.

Qualifications

• Two years college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or related field plus five years engineering experience; or seven years of engineering experience.
• Valid CDL driver’s license required.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations and vehicle repair.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance and repair of trucks and major off-road equipment.
• Provide training on equipment operation and repairs.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment problems with diagnostic tools.
• Supervise safe use and maintenance of equipment and software used.
• Support budget expenditures for fleet repairs.
