Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation is seeking an Engineer III/Senior Engineer to serve as a SME for protection and control standards for relays, controls, and automation in distribution systems. The role emphasizes developing templates, settings, and guidance across enterprise standards with hands-on testing and field support.

The candidate will collaborate with DPAC distribution teams, provide mentorship to peers, and contribute to an enterprise-wide protection settings repository.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Master’s degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
• Minimum 4 years related experience; PE licensure preferred or higher qualification as noted.

Responsibilities

• Develop standards, guides, and statements for system protection and control of distribution equipment.
• Create protection and control standard settings, logic, and templates.
• Support development of protection and automation standards and related artifacts.
• Serve as SME for training materials and methodologies.
• Conduct hands-on relay lab testing, field commissioning, and factory acceptance testing.
• Integrate sensing, control, communications, and protection capabilities into standard solutions.
• Collaborate with DPAC teams and Asset Management stakeholders.
