Job summary

Duke Energy Corporation seeks a System Protection, Control, Integration, and Automation SME to develop standards for distributed energy resources (DER) protection and control. The role supports safe DER integration, ride-through, stability and anti-islanding concepts and involves relay standards and automation device configuration.

The position requires ABET-accredited engineering degree and 4+ years of related experience for Engineer III, or a BS plus PE and 6+ years for Senior Engineer.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program is required.
• Master’s degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the BS degree.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus or required for senior level.

Responsibilities

• Develop standards, application guides, and position statements related to system protection and control for DER integration.
• Develop protection and control standard settings, logic, and control templates.
• Support development of control and automation standards for equipment.
• Provide SME input into training materials and documentation.
• Perform hands-on testing in relay lab, field lab, factory, and field acceptance testing.
• Collaborate with DPAC ES team and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor and lead fellow engineers.
