Job summary

Resource Innovations in Illinois seeks an Energy Advisor (Energy Manager / Outreach Engineer) to lead energy efficiency consulting for commercial and industrial clients. You will drive strategy, opportunities, and project execution from identification to implementation, translating complex technical concepts into clear business cases and measurable energy savings.

You’ll build strong relationships with facility leaders, engineers, utility reps, and executives, navigate organizational barriers,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
• Five+ years in energy efficiency consulting, technical sales, or facility optimization.
• Strong understanding of industrial/commercial facilities and energy-saving technologies.
• Experience supporting utility-sponsored energy efficiency programs.
• Ability to influence customer decisions through consultative selling and relationship management.
• Passion for sustainability and achieving operational/environmental goals.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Willingness to travel locally up to ~50%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as customers’ strategic energy management partner, prioritizing opportunities that align with operational and financial goals.
• Deliver data-driven recommendations and actionable implementation plans.
• Develop and maintain an Energy Management Action Plan for each customer.
• Guide customers through project evaluation, prioritization, and implementation planning.
• Collaborate with engineering specialists to develop solutions for complex systems.
• Coordinate resources to remove barriers and ensure project momentum.
• Maintain accurate CRM pipelines and project forecasts.
