Job summary

LJA Energy is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to support design and execution of oil and gas midstream projects, including natural gas processing, compression, and utility systems. The role may serve as discipline lead or Engineer of Record depending on experience.

The position requires strong process engineering fundamentals, proficiency with ProMax/Aspen HYSYS/VMGSim, and experience coordinating with clients and operations teams. On-site work and collaborative leadership are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Texas PE license or eligibility within defined period.
• 5–10 years of process engineering experience in oil/gas midstream sectors.
• 10+ years for Senior-level with midstream facility design.

Responsibilities

• Develop process deliverables for FEED to brownfield projects.
• Prepare PFDs, P&IDs, utility flow diagrams and related drawings.
• Develop design bases, operating and control philosophies.
• Prepare heat and material balances; establish operating cases.
• Develop and validate process simulations (ProMax, HYSYS, VMGSim).
• Size equipment: separators, scrubbers, amines, compressors, vessels, dehydration systems.
• Perform piping hydraulics, line sizing, pump system calculations.
• Conduct pressure-relief sizing and relief-system evaluations.
• Coordinate with PMs, clients, operations, vendors, and other disciplines.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, LOPAs, and risk assessments.
• Conduct site visits and data gathering; mentor junior staff.
