Job summary

Sun Communities seeks a Senior Team Relations Specialist to act as a subject matter expert in employee relations and HR compliance. You will mentor the Team Relations team, advise leaders on complex HR matters, and develop resources to strengthen the function.

The role emphasizes risk mitigation, investigations, and policy interpretation to ensure fair, consistent practices across the organization. You will lead end-to-end investigations, coach leaders in performance management, and design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
• Master's degree in HR, Business or related field preferred.
• 6+ years progressive HR experience focused on employee relations.
• Experience conducting workplace investigations, harassment and discrimination.
• Experience interpreting and advising on employment laws at federal, state, and local levels.
• Experience guiding HR policies, compliance, and performance management processes.
• Familiarity with FLSA, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, NLRA and related statutes.
• Strong documentation, reporting, and data integrity for investigations.
• Valid driver's license; ability to travel for on-site visits.

Responsibilities

• Foster an inclusive, high-performing workplace culture as a subject matter expert.
• Advise leaders on complex employee relations matters and policy interpretation.
• Document investigations, corrective actions, and performance trends timely.
• Coach leaders on performance management, conflict resolution, and engagement.
• Lead high-risk investigations into discrimination, harassment, and misconduct.
• Develop investigation frameworks, templates, and team resources.
• Mentor and develop Team Relations Specialist team through coaching and training.
• Identify opportunities within Team Relations and implement solutions.
• Administer exit interviews, analyze feedback, and propose retention strategies.
• Develop, review, and maintain job descriptions for alignment with policy/compliance.
• Design and implement HR-related projects and process improvements.
• Assist with Sun's J1 Visa program compliance and coordination.
• Create resources and training materials for Team Relations team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
