Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is a leading provider of employee benefits nationwide. The Employee Relations Consultant role provides day-to-day ER support, triage, documentation and process improvements across the ER team, partners with HRBPs, Legal and leaders to deliver practical solutions and compliant outcomes.

You will handle routine inquiries, assist with leave and accommodations, and maintain confidential case records with a focus on client experience and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• BA or equivalent degree in Human Resources or related field.
• 3-5 years progressive experience in HR, preferably in employee relations.
• Excellent knowledge of U.S employment legislation, trends & practices.
• Strong planning, organization and time management; detail oriented.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently while keeping relevant parties informed.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a first point of contact for routine ER inquiries via ER central mailbox and HR Help; provide timely responses.
• Assist with routine Employee Relations matters in support of Sr. ERC staff.
• Serve as the first point of contact for accommodations and leave/disability matters.
• Document and track case activity; respond to leader inquiries and escalate as needed.
• Ensure communications are well written, clear and professional.
• Support compliance with employment legislation and policy.
• Collaborate with Sr. ERCs, HRBPs, Legal and managers to resolve matters.
• Participate in HR/ER projects and process improvements.
• Contribute to best practices within Employee Relations at Sun Life U.S.
