Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation is seeking a Sr Controls Engineer to design, implement and test high-quality vehicle control subsystem software for embedded platforms across on-road and off-road applications.

You will develop control strategies in a virtual simulation environment using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, write robust C++ software, and perform verification and validation while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.
• Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow.
• Embedded software/C or C#/Python programming experience.
• Experience with control systems, sensors and actuators.
• Knowledge of high voltage vehicle systems and export power.
• Automotive or heavy duty on or off-road vehicle, digital data bus, including Ethernet or CAN experiences.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks according to Oshkosh, as well as general industry, engineering standards and processes.
• Prepare plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
• Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.
• Responsible for a project or part of a project of moderate complexity.
• Collaborate with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
• Perform advanced vehicle system controls research, development, verification and validation, testing and production implementation.
• Develop control strategies in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools (such as ADAMS, MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow, AMEsim, etc.) or hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
• Ability to write high-quality, maintainable, object-oriented C++ software.
• Support internal project teams on advanced control development efforts and on component development efforts.
• Provide guidance or mentorship to entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project.
• Responsible for quality conscious design including cost and reliability.
• Participate in peer reviews, estimation, and other engineering activities.
• Use reasonable foresight to identify vehicle operation and maintenance risks, and control them within acceptable levels.
• Conduct testing across multiple platforms, in both simulation and real-world use cases.
• Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
• Establish priorities for work delegated to others.
• Other duties as assigned.
