Mainspring Energy is seeking an experienced software engineer focused on embedded systems to advance our fuel-flexible, low-emissions power solutions in Menlo Park. You will design and maintain C/C++ software for diverse hardware, and build Python tooling for device bring-up and testing.

Join a team developing telemetry interfaces and robust self-diagnostic capabilities, with onsite work at our Menlo Park HQ and opportunities to work across hardware/software boundaries.

Qualifications

• 6+ years embedded software development experience (real-time a plus)
• Proficient in C/C++ and Python
• Strong debugging across hardware/software boundaries using tools like logic analyzers and multimeters
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Firmware & Software Development: design, write, and maintain production-ready C++ for embedded Linux and bare metal/ RTOS
• Python tooling: develop CLI utilities and scripts interfacing with embedded devices for bring-up, data logging, tests
• Diagnostic & HMI interfaces: implement standard APIs, Modbus, MQTT to expose telemetry and logs to HMIs
• System robustness for repair: develop self-diagnostic routines and non-volatile fault logging for field service
