Job summary

Mainspring Energy in Menlo Park, CA is seeking an embedded software engineer to develop firmware for our linear generator platforms. You will work on production-ready C++ across embedded Linux and bare-metal environments, and build Python tools for hardware bring-up, data logging, and manufacturing tests.

You will collaborate to improve system robustness, implement telemetry interfaces, and create diagnostics for field service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years embedded software development experience (real-time a plus).
• Languages: C/C++ and Python.
• Strong debugging across hardware/software boundary with test tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, write, and maintain production-ready C++ code for embedded Linux and bare metal/RTOS.
• Develop Python tooling for bring-up, data logging, and manufacturing tests.
• Architect diagnostics interfaces (Modbus, MQTT) and HMIs to expose telemetry and state.
• Build self-diagnostic routines and fault logging for field service.
