Job summary

Genie Matthews and Associates is seeking a hands-on Embedded OS Engineer to own the Ubuntu-based Linux firmware on the MK2 drone platform (Qualcomm QRB5165). You will build, secure, and ship the OS through automated CI/CD pipelines.

This role requires deep work on OS internals, Yocto BitBake, headless hardware, and image recipes to produce the qti-ubuntu-robotics-image. You will optimize builds and harden the rootfs while maintaining Jenkins pipelines for reliable field deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining embedded Linux firmware stacks.
• Hands-on with Yocto Project and BitBake tooling.
• Ability to work on headless devices and secure OS hardening.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the firmware stack for MK2 drone platform.
• Develop and maintain build system recipes and patches against BSP.
• Debug BitBake task failures across do_fetch to do_image stages.
• Optimize build times and manage Jenkins CI/CD pipelines.
• Implement ROOTFS_POSTPROCESS_COMMAND and OS hardening tasks.
• Configure systemd services and USB logging for headless devices.
• Improve security posture: Nessus findings remediation and patching.
