Job summary

Sun Recruiting, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Embedded OS Engineer to own the Ubuntu-based Linux firmware stack on the MK2 drone platform (Qualcomm QRB5165). You’ll build the OS, ensure security and reliability, and ship via automated CI/CD pipelines.

This role requires deep work on low-level OS internals, Yocto BitBake, systemd units, and headless hardware with no display. You’ll also optimize builds and harden the root filesystem for production images.

Qualifications

• Experience with embedded Linux and Yocto BitBake workflows.
• Ability to build, patch, and maintain image recipes and BSP layers.
• Strong debugging skills across do_fetch, do_compile, do_rootfs, do_image stages.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the Ubuntu-based Linux firmware stack for the MK2 drone platform.
• Write and maintain .bb recipes and overlays; patch against pinned BSP; avoid direct upstream modification.
• Debug BitBake task failures and optimize build times; tune parallelism and sstate-cache usage.
