Qualifications

• Associates degree in mechanical, electrical, electronics engineering, computer/IT, electromechanical tech or related STEM field; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.
• Active DOE Q-level security clearance (or DOD equivalent) with ability to obtain Sigma 15 access, including random polygraphs.
• Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant STEM fields.
• Experience operating lab equipment and collaborating with safety departments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or participate in work planning to identify and control hazards (electrical, mechanical, thermal, chemical, radiological, explosive).
• Develop and present work plans to management during readiness reviews.
• Perform detailed assembly/disassembly on new weapon designs in a state-of-the-art lab.
• Plan complex tasks requiring strict adherence to exacting standards and step-by-step processes.
• Provide assembly and field test support at Sandia's environmental test facilities.
